About the Lake County Library District

Our Mission and Values

Lake County Libraries provide inviting community spaces to nurture young readers, explore stories and information, and connect with others. Our SIRCLE of values--Service, Integrity, Respect, Community, Learning, and Excellence--drives every action we take to satisfy our mission.

In 2018, the library board asked community members to prioritize library services. Based on their input, board members and library staff collaborated on a Strategic Plan 2018-2023. You can read the full plan below.

About the Libraries

Welcome to the Lake County Libraries! The Lake County Library District consists of the Main Library in Lakeview, and branches in Paisley, Christmas Valley and Silver Lake. The Lake County Libraries provide free public library services to all residents living within Lake County, with services also available to non-residents for a fee.

Based on community input, the library has adopted the following Community Impact Goals:
  • Lake County children will be ready for kindergarten.
  • Lake County residents will explore ideas through engaging stories and lifelong learning.
  • Lake County residents will have-high speed access to the digital world.
  • Lake County residents will have comfortable spaces to connect with each other and the wider world.

We will meet these goals by offering you a wide variety of stories and information to check out, programs to encourage a love of reading in children of all ages, public computers and Wi-Fi, and programs for lifelong learning for adults - all inside increasingly comfortable libraries in Lake County.

For more information, you can read the whole strategic plan by clicking the link to the left, or explore our website to learn more.

Board of Directors

The Lake County Library District is a special library district with a dedicated tax base to support the operation of the libraries. For every $1.00 paid in property taxes in the county, about $0.03 go to support our libraries. The library system is governed by a five-member board of directors. Board members are elected by voters to a term of 4 years, and may be re-elected. Current board members are:
  • Mary Baker, Board President (Summer Lake)
  • Melissa Maxwell, Board Vice President (Lakeview)
  • Shelley Batty (Lakeview)
  • Darrel Denbrook (Lakeview)
  • Deb Diment (Christmas Valley)

Board meetings are generally held on the 3rd Thursday of the month and are normally rotated to different locations around the county. If you would like to talk to a member of the Library Board, please call the Main Library at 541-947-6019 for contact information.

The next regular meeting of the library board is scheduled for Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 5:00 PM via Zoom. If library meeting rooms are open, the public may also join the meeting at the Main Library in Lakeview. If you would like to attend via Zoom, contact your local library for information on joining the meeting. The meeting agenda will be posted below when available.
