About the Lake County Library District
Our Mission and Values
Lake County Libraries provide inviting community spaces to nurture young readers, explore stories and information, and connect with others. Our SIRCLE of values--Service, Integrity, Respect, Community, Learning, and Excellence--drives every action we take to satisfy our mission.
In 2018, the library board asked community members to prioritize library services. Based on their input, board members and library staff collaborated on a Strategic Plan 2018-2023. You can read the full plan below.
About the Libraries
Welcome to the Lake County Libraries! The Lake County Library District consists of the Main Library in Lakeview, and branches in Paisley, Christmas Valley and Silver Lake. The Lake County Libraries provide free public library services to all residents living within Lake County, with services also available to non-residents for a fee.
Based on community input, the library has adopted the following Community Impact Goals:
We will meet these goals by offering you a wide variety of stories and information to check out, programs to encourage a love of reading in children of all ages, public computers and Wi-Fi, and programs for lifelong learning for adults - all inside increasingly comfortable libraries in Lake County.
For more information, you can read the whole strategic plan by clicking the link to the left, or explore our website to learn more.

We also welcome donated fiction and nonfiction books in good, clean condition. If you have one bag or box, feel free to bring them in at your convenience. For more substantial donations, give your local library a call to coordinate. Please no textbooks or encyclopedias.
Board of Directors
The Lake County Library District is a special library district with a dedicated tax base to support the operation of the libraries. About 3% of the property taxes paid in Lake County go to support our libraries. The library system is governed by a five-member board of directors. Board members are elected by voters to a term of 4 years, and may be re-elected. Current board members are:
Board meetings are generally held on the 3rd Thursday of the month and are rotated to different locations around the county. If you would like to talk to a member of the Library Board, please call the Main Library at 541-947-6019 for contact information.
The next regular meeting of the library board is scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2018, at 5:00 PM at the Lake County Senior Center, 11 N G St, Lakeview, OR 97630. The meeting was moved from the third Thursday to accommodate holiday travel. The meeting agenda will be posted below when available.
The Lake County Library District budget is set by a budget committee consisting of the five elected library board members and five community members appointed by the board. The board appoints a Budget Officer to propose a budget to the committee. The Library Director is currently the Budget Officer.
