In August and September, the Lake County Library District collected photographs of Lake County landscapes from current and former residents. Entries were intended to capture what is special about Lake County. A panel of judges reviewed the entries, and the top photographs are featured in the show.

“We are excited to help share a community view of what is special about Lake County’s landscape,” says Amy Hutchinson, Library Director. “We are working on even more ways to document and share what locals feel is special about our landscape. Stay tuned!”

These events are supported by Oregon Cultural Trust through a grant received by the Friends of Lake County Library. Questions about the shows may be sent to Library Director Amy Hutchinson at 541-947-6019 or amyh@lakecountylibrary.org.

Million Page Challenge Begins!

2/5/2018

(Lakeview, Ore)— February 5, 2018 –Starting today Lake County Library District is again teaming up with Harney County Library to take on Hood River County Library District and Pendleton Public Library in a three-way race to see which library’s patrons can reach one million pages first. Will this be the year we lose the title, or will bragging rights be retained? Only you can decide.
Picture
The Million Page Challenge is open to people of all ages. Materials read (or listened to) must be owned by a library to count in the challenge so stop in today or download an audiobook or ebook online. The challenge begins February 5 and ends March 17, 2018. The library that reaches a million pages first wins bragging rights so turn in your pages early. If no library has reached a million pages by March 17, the library with the most pages read wins. The top 10 readers in Lake County will also receive small prizes.

To join, stop by your local library to pick up a book mark to track your reading – or keep track yourself on any old piece of paper.
Books, magazines, newspapers, e-books, and audiobooks checked out from the library all count. Items you purchase yourself do not count. Participants will need to record the title and number of pages they read or listen to. To count audiobook and ebook “pages,” library staff can help you look up the number of pages of a print book of the same title. Pages can be turned in any time at any Lake County Library District location.

Questions about the contest may be directed to Amy Hutchinson, Lake County Library Director, at 541-947-6019.
