Do you have or are you looking for budget experience? Are you willing to attend just one meeting per year? Do you live in the North Lake Area? If so, join the Lake County Library District Budget Committee!

The Budget Committee reviews and approves the budget for the district. Generally, the committee meets just one time per year. Committee members are appointed by the library board to four-year terms. We very much would like a representative from the North Lake area!

If you’d like to join, please send a letter of interest to amyh@lakecountylibrary.org or 26 South G Street, Lakeview, OR 97630 by May 5th. For questions, please call Amy Hutchinson,  Library Director, at 541-947-6019.

Paisley: Saturday, April 23, 2016

Christmas Valley: Saturday,
May 21, 2016

Lakeview: Saturday, June 11, 2016

April 8, 2016— Many people today have a phone in their pocket, and we take and share pictures like never before. Have you ever wanted to improve your photographs? This spring you can get top notch instruction from University of Oregon Professor of Art Terri Warpinski through Lake County Library District’s Photographing Your World digital landscape photography workshops.

This one-day workshop, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, will cover ideas and techniques to guide participants of a wide variety of ages on how to make photographs of the area they live, work, and play in. Participants will look at and talk about photographs that not only describe how places look today, but also how they can tell stories, reveal history, and even communicate how the photographer feels about the subjects they shoot.

Participants will learn basic concepts for framing and composing through the camera’s viewfinder to make their photographs as strong as possible as well as essential camera techniques. The workshop includes time for making and sharing photographs with the group.

Workshops will be held on three days in different Lake County locations: Paisley on Saturday, April 23, 2016; Christmas Valley on Saturday, May 21, 2016; and Lakeview on Saturday, June 11, 2016. The workshop is open to participants age 9 to 99 with a digital camera or smart phone camera. Those ages 9-13 will need an accompanying adult.

Pre-registration is required for this free workshop. You can register by calling the library location of your choice: Paisley 541-943-3911; Christmas Valley 541-576-2336; Lakeview 541-947-6019. Registration is limited to 36 participants in each location. Preference for seats will be given to Lake County residents.

This program is provided in partnership with Lake County Resources Initiative, Playa, and the Libraries of Eastern Oregon (LEO) through an ArtPlace America grant. LEO is a nonprofit organization that serves libraries in its 15-county service area with programs, online services, and advocacy. Funding from the ArtPlace America grant aims to provide arts-based programming at libraries through various hands-on workshops, presentations, and art exhibits for patrons of all ages.

For more information about this free program, please contact Library Director Amy Hutchinson at 541-947-6019 or amyh@lakecountylibrary.org.
