Crafternoon "Rocks" Main Library

5/11/2017

LAKEVIEW, Ore.—May 12, 2107—Another all-ages crafternoon will rock the library and the town of Lakeview thanks to the Lake County Library District and Lakeview “Rocks.” The Main Library will host a free rock-painting crafternoon on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. All ages welcome, but children under 10 should plan to bring someone 15 or over with them. READ MORE BELOW...

This will be the third installment in the Lakeview “Rocks” partnership with the library. April featured an all-ages haiku painting event and an ladies night for adults. “One of the core library services chosen by the community was “Stimulate Imagination” says Amy Hutchinson, Library Director. “While much of that translates into reading stories that take us into other people and other worlds, providing a place and time to engage individual creativity is also an important way the library can help stimulate imaginations in Lake County.”

“Creating and leaving a little something to make others smile is a great way to spread positivity in your community and region,” says Kristi Gray, founder of Lakeview “Rocks.” “Why not leave the world a little better than how you found it?”

All materials and supplies will be provided for this free workshop open to the public. Participants may drop in any time during the 4:00 to 6:00 window, but should come early enough to allow for multiple coats of acrylic paint to dry in order to create their rock. Participants can take rocks home or leave them to be hidden in the community. Rocks can be left in the library to dry and be varnished and ready for pick up the following week.

This program is made possible in part by Lakeview Redi-Mix who donated rocks for the events. For more information about Lakeview “Rocks” check out the Facebook page at http://bit.ly/Lakeviewrocks. For questions about the program or more information about the library, contact Library Director Amy Hutchinson at amyh@lakecountylibrary.org or 541-947-6019.
