Author Readings in Lakeview 2/28/2018

6:30 PM Main Library - Lakeview - Meeting Room

​LAKEVIEW, Ore.—February 16, 2018— The Lake County Library District is pleased to host current PLAYA resident authors Courtney Carlson, Donald Levering, and Dianne Stepp for a reading of their work at the Main Library in Lakeview at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. 

Courtney Carlson

​Courtney Carlson is assistant professor at the University of Wyoming Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources, where she teaches creative writing and literary analysis in the context of socio-ecological systems. Courtney earned an MFA in nonfiction writing and environmental studies. She is especially interested in work that blurs genre lines and confounds classic modes of nature writing.

Donald Levering

​Donald Levering was born in Kansas City and received an MFA from Bowling Green  State University in Ohio. He is an award-winning poet, a former NEA fellow, an ecological activist, and a US citizenship tutor. He has published 7 full-length books of poetry. His recent work has explored our current political and ecological realities as well as music of all kinds. He lives in Santa Fe, NM.

Dianne Stepp

​Dianne Stepp’s poems have appeared in many literary journals and anthologies.  She is a recipient of an Oregon Literary Arts Fellow-ship and a writer’s residency at Caldera. She is a graduate of the Warren Wilson MFA Program in Poetry.  She has two chapbooks published by Finishing Line Press. Dianne lives in Portland with her husband, Mike, one rat terrier, 8 pullets and a big garden.  She is working on her third poetry collection.

This free public program is made possible in partnership with PLAYA. On the edge of the Great Basin, PLAYA offers creative individuals the space, solitude and the community to reflect and to engage their work through its residency program. PLAYA supports innovative thinking through work in the arts, literature, natural sciences and other fields of creative inquiry and encourages dialogue between disciplines to bring positive change to the environment and the world.
