Troutman was born Placerville, California and raised in San Mateo. She moved to Lakeview with her husband, Doug, in the fall of 1978, after having lived National Parks and wilderness areas in California and Arizona. If you want a real treat, ask Dawn for stories about the bears in Yosemite.

Right as the library district began operation in the summer of 1991, Dawn joined the library team. “Looking back at our library facilities and services of the 1990’s compared to what we have today is a jaw-dropping wonderment,” Troutman said. “Never could I have imagined what technology and hard work has brought us.”

Library Director Amy Hutchinson will be sad to see her go. “Dawn has always been the memory of the library, enable to enlighten us on local history resources, treasures found and past events. We will all miss her careful attention to detail in her work as well as dedication to the library,” Hutchinson said. Hutchinson invites community members to join the library staff in wishing Dawn well during a goodbye open house on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 2 – 4 PM at the Main Library in Lakeview. Light refreshments will be served.

Troutman’s retirement plans include spending time with grandkids, one in Lakeview and one in New Zealand, reading, knitting, and working in the garden. Fortunately for the library, they also include helping to train staff taking on her duties and substituting at the library.
