This month's event includes visual artists Pat Clark, Haena Kang, and Richard Thompson; scientists Katharine Cashman, Alison Rust, Heida Diefenderfer, and Jim O'Connor; and authors Caryl and Jay Casbon. In addition to open studios and readings, the afternoon features "Earth Shaking News," a talk and discussion with noted vulcanologist Katherine Cashman about how our landscape got here and how we live on it now.

PLAYA offers creative individuals the space, solitude and the community to reflect and to engage their work through its residency program in Summer Lake. PLAYA supports innovative thinking through work in the arts, literature, natural sciences and other fields of creative inquiry and encourages dialogue between disciplines to bring positive change to the environment and the world.
