Spring has sprung!  With new babies being born all over the county, now is the time to join in the fun by making and donating baby blankets or booties for our newest residents, or by signing up for an invitation. The Lake County Libraries’ Early Learning Baby Showers will begin again in May as part of the continue effort to ensure all children in the county start school ready to read.

Last year babies and parents were showered with homemade hats and blankets, literacy themed baby gifts and, of course, several sturdy board books and even bath books!  During the party everyone had fun while learning ways to help babies prepare to read by talking, playing, singing, reading, and writing with their infants from birth. New families this year can expect just as much fun and gifts!

The 2016 Early Learning Baby Showers will be for babies born between March 2015 and August 2016 and are scheduled around the county as follows:  Christmas Valley Branch on Saturday May 14 at 3 pm; Paisley Branch on Saturday May 21 at 2 pm; Main Library Lakeview on Saturday June 18, at 2 pm.

Donated blankets and booties can be quilted, crocheted, knitted, or sewn. The library has quite a number of hats already, so we are especially interested in receiving blankets, washcloths, or booties. If you would like donate an item, to be invited to a baby shower, or make sure someone else is invited, please contact your local branch or call David Lev at 541-947-6019. Jan at the Paisley Branch can be reached at 541-943-3911 and Julie at the Christmas Valley Branch can be reached at 541-576-2336.
Early Learning Baby Showers are made possible through the generous donations of local businesses and organizations, the State of Oregon through the Ready to Read Grant, and individual crafters of all ages.
